LOCAL MARRIAGE EQUALITY RALLY
WHEN: Tuesday, September 18 2007, 5:30 PM WHERE: SF LGBT Community Center, 1800 Market Street.
WHAT: Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the LGBT Center (corner of Market and Octavia) for a press conference with Assemblyman Mark Leno then march to Harvey Milk Plaza (corner of Castro and Market).
California stands poised to be the first state to enact marriage equality through legislative action. The California Legislature has given Governor Schwarzenegger a second opportunity to be a civil rights hero by signing AB 43 (Leno, D-San Francisco) to ensure that all California families are able to enjoy the rights and obligations of civil marriage.
Coming together helps us all re-engage in our commitment to marriage equality and build the communities that can continue the fight so whatever it is…win or lose…in the short term…taking action is a victory for us.
In the words of the American Civil Rights Heroes who have been responsible for making our country better through their historical efforts “Si, Se Puede!” Cesar Chavez
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
