The Black Nativity at LGBT@LHT with activelyOUT.com
What a beautiful evening… “The Black Nativity” is quickly becoming a tradition for San Franciscan’s of all backgrounds and interests. From the rousing solos to the theatre shaking ensemble pieces, the cast is sure to keep your attention and bring you closer to the holiday spirit. Stanley Williams, LHT’s Artistic Director, brings forth the talents of the dynamic Miss Faye Carol, Music Director & Featured Artist Yvonne Cobbs-Bey with Yolanda Cato Freeman. Divided into two acts, “Nativity” begins with the traditional story of Christ’s birth and then trasitions into a more modern day celebration representative of today’s black gospel religious and cultural experience. You walk away feeling more like a family than simply a member of the audience.
The ever-enchanting Mercedez Munro, Miss Gay 2007 and Empress 2008 hopeful, led the post-gathering toast reminding us of all the things for which we have to be thankful. Meeting the actors behind the voices had to have been the highlight of the entire evening. A hand-clapping, foot-stomping, dance-in-the-aisles holiday treat, there's no better way to usher in the season than with the soul-stirring sonds of the finest gospel singers from throughout Bay Area. As always, LHT stuns audiences with new text, songs, arrangements, staging and choreography. It's a holiday tradition the whole family can enjoy. Join us as we "make a joyful noise unto The Lord!" and make LHT’s “Black Nativity” a part of your holiday season each year!
