Question 1: How can I get involved?

Would you like to be apart or our newly developed professional networking and events committee? As you've probably noticed, there are a number of select events that occur with activelyOUT on a monthly basis. As we expand we need outgoing personable people who would be interested in helping us with events.

Areas of Interest include but are not limited to:

  • Mixers and Professional Network receptions
  • Sports (going to games, white water rafting)
  • Museum/Arts- Friday Night at the DeYoung, Commonwealth club
  • Politics
  • Speakers
  • Professional networking
  • Women-featured events including the mixer and network reception
  • Men-featured events
  • People of color featured events

What's in it for you? Volunteers get...? You get to meet interesting people and have a great time. And get entrance into exclusive venues and events.

Serious inquires should be made to. events@activelyOUT.com.

Question 2: I haven't been to an event... what do I do?

A member wrote:

"hi guys,I have joined the group about a couple of months ago and have not been out with you on event yet. I'm not sure how to go around about it. Do I just show up to events or do we meet somewhere first. I can't wait to meet you all. I'm thinking my first one would be at Mecca on this Sunday. :-)"

Yes just RSVP so we know you are coming , and stop by.
You will be sent an email by the day of the event with all the meeting details.
We have event hosts to help people mix and mingle to create a fun environment

Question 3: Who is activelyOUT for?

This is for you. The organization is comprised of people who are professionals in their careers and/or an alumni from a college or university. activelyOUT members self identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, poly-amorous, transgender, or same-sex-loving individuals. We are accepting of all people including straight allies. Many of our members are managers, entrepreneurs, doctors, etc... I think you get the point.

Question 4: Do you do charitable work?

Yes. We strive to partner with non-profits on events where the proceeds will help to aid a cause. We also help organize community service outings for our members. If you have any ideas or want to volunteer, please email membership@activelyout.com

Question 5: Is this just for young people, or older people, or just men, or just women, or just....
We are comprised of all types of people from all over the spectrum. so if you are LGBT, and a professional, come on board. While we are developing events that do help target specific groups to ensure that their needs are met, all events are open to ALL members.

Question 6: How do I post an event? Partnership Guidelines

This is a very good question. We don't simply post events. Instead we create partnerships with organizations and businesses to ensure that our members get the best care. The time it takes to do this restricts the number of events we can make available to our membership.

At activelyOUT we are looking for the partners to help us provide events in sport/athletics, politics, community service, arts and culture, and spirituality. We select these events for you, make sure that they are going to happen, and create a welcoming environment. We strive to ensure a differentiated experience.

Some things we are looking for include

  1. Differentiated member experience which might include: discount tickets or VIP access
  2. Win/Win through co-sponsorship: joint emails and promotion
  3. Priority consideration given to events where proceeds goto a non-profit
For information, please email us at events@activelyOUT.com

If you simply want to post, please visit Craigslist.

Question 7: Why not post all the events in the gay universe?

Do you have any idea how much work that is? We only post a select number of events because you told us this is what you want. When we did our member survey, it was clear that seeing a calendar with 40 things to do on a particular day is not helpful. So instead, we give you a tool to help organize your activities specifically around your interests. In addition, we screen these activities to make sure that they are the best available. Watch for new developments to help you better organize your life here with activelyOUT.

Question 8: What do event hosts do?
You have fun. No seriously. We need someone to

1. bring a camera and take pictures of an event
2. get people to sign in
3. offer people name tags
4. mingle, mix, and mingle.

What a great excuse to go up and talk to someone right? If you are going to be there anyway, why not help out.
